The Real Easter Egg

April 9, 2011

Crazy that we hadn’t thought of this before…!

It’s hard to believe that, out of the whopping 80 million chocolate Easter Eggs sold each year, not one of them mentions Jesus on the box. Until now that is.

The Real Easter Egg is the first and only Fairtrade chocolate Easter Egg to explain the Christian understanding of Easter on the box. It also supports charity and development projects – buying everything from medical equipment for new mums here at home, to chickens and securing fresh water for farmers in Africa

This is a classic example of how consumerism can be turned to good (Cadbury take note): it’s a gift, it celebrates something wonderful, it encourages fairer trade, it blesses charity work, it exposes the shallowness of other consumer options, and it’s MADE OF CHOCOLATE!

My supermarket says the best time to ask for these to be stocked for next Easter is January. So buy one this Easter and let’s get them more widely stocked in 2012.
