Family life

  • Playday“Playday is the national day for play in the UK, traditionally held on the first Wednesday in August. On Playday thousands of children and their families get out to play at hundreds of community events across the UK.” Look at their site to find out where you can play!
  • Slow Food“Slow Food envisions a world in which all people can access and enjoy food that is good for them, good for those who grow it and good for the planet.” Check out their site for inspiration and get (slow!) cooking.
  • Screen-Free week – previously TV Turnoff week, but now recognising the prevalence of many more screens in our lives. “A national celebration where children, families, schools and communities spend 7 days turning OFF entertainment screen media and turning ON life! It’s a time to unplug and play, read, daydream, create, explore nature and spend time with family and friends.”
