Projects which foster local community

  •  Streetbank –   “Streetbank is a site that helps you share and borrow things from your neighbours. The aim is to get people involved in their community, to foster altruism, a generosity of spirit and volunteerism. It is to help local needs to be met by local solutions, reducing poverty by building community. It makes sense environmentally. It helps people to reuse things, and for things that are under-used to be used more, and that all helps to reduce consumption.”
  • Besom  – “Besom provides a bridge between those who want to give time, money, things or skills and those who are in need.”  Their website will direct you to local projects to get involved in.
  • Serve  –  “Serve is an alliance of Christian organisations committed to passionately supporting churches in England as they transform their communities – sharing resources, encouraging good ideas, celebrating successes to government and the media and using the stories of churches to inspire others to action.
  • TimeBank – “Make a real difference and have a rewarding experience at the same time by volunteering on one of our projects.” Look for a project close to where you live.
  • Acts 435 – “A revolutionary website that allows people to give money directly to others. Managed through a network of churches, our goal is to get 100% of your donations quickly to those in need. Acts 435 puts people who can give in touch with people who are in need with the Church as the physical, face-to-face forum to enable virtual, on-line giving.”
